Appropriate Use of the CCHI Marks and Designations:
CHI™, CERTIFIED HEALTHCARE INTERPRETER™ and
ASSOCIATE HEALTHCARE INTERPRETER™

 

 Quick Reference Guide

This is a Quick Reference Guide that outlines the basic uses CCHI’s marks including CHI™, Certified Healthcare Interpreter™ and Associate Healthcare Interpreter™. Individuals certified or credentialed by CCHI must abide by the full policy available [here for CHI™ certificants] and [here for Associate Healthcare Interpreter™ recipients]. Failure to comply with these policies may result in disciplinary action and/or revocation of certification/credential.

The purpose of this Quick Reference is to get you going in the right direction, quick. Please refer to the complete Guide to Use of the CCHI Certification Marks and Designations for Certified Healthcare Interpreters™ [click here] and Guide to Use of the CCHI Certification Marks and Designations for Associate Healthcare Interpreters™ [click here] for all of the guidelines you must follow for proper use of the CHI™, Certified Healthcare Interpreter™ and Associate Healthcare Interpreter™ marks. When used, the marks must be displayed in certain manners so as to avoid a potential loss of rights.

CHI

  • Always use capital letters. 
  • Never use periods. 
  • Always use the ™ symbol. [The symbols only needs to be used once per document or item. It does not have to be used multiple times in the same document or item. Unless your mark is in serious jeopardy of becoming generic, like the REALTOR mark, requiring use of the symbol multiple times in the same document or item is not necessary. This comment applies to all of the marks.] 
  • Always use with one of CCHI’s approved nouns: “certificant,” “professional,” “practitioner,” “certification,” “mark” or “exam.”
  • Always associate with the individual(s) certified by CCHI.

 

CERTIFIED HEALTHCARE INTERPRETER

  • Always use capital letters or small cap font. 
  • Always use the ™ symbol.
  • Always use with one of CCHI’s approved nouns: “certificant,” “professional,” “practitioner,” “certification,” “mark” or “exam.” 
  • Always associate with the individual(s) certified by CCHI.

 

ASSOCIATE HEALTHCARE INTERPRETER 

  • Always use capital letters or small cap font.
  • Always use the ™ symbol.
  • Always use with one of CCHI’s approved nouns: “professional,” “practitioner,” “certificate-holder,” “credential,” “mark,” or “exam.”
  • Always associate with the individual(s) certified by CCHI.

 

AHI™

  • Never use to associate with the individual(s) credentialed by CCHI.
