The Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) anticipates releasing our first certification examination in Fall 2010. But to ensure that it is scientifically valid and reliable, we cannot rush the process. CCHI is following nationally recognized processes for all certification programs – outlined by the Institute for Credentialing Excellence's accrediting body, the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) – to develop its certification program. Many organizations – in healthcare and other fields – have developed extensive certification programs following these steps. To ensure that CCHI’s program is credible and valid, we will be following these same steps.
